The Region
Pineda de Mar is located in the north end of the Maresme region, very near to important cultural and touristic centres, such as Barcelona, Girona or Montserrat.
But much nearer to our town, there is a wide choice of interesting and diverse leisure alternatives. For instance, from Pineda de Mar and by train, it’s possible to reach in no more than 15 minutes, the following towns:
- Calella (www.calella.org) has an important cultural and gastronomic offer
and well-equipped beaches (including naturism).
Its street market takes place
on Saturdays. Furthermore, it has an extremely lively nightlife, which makes
the town an appealing destination for youngsters, who can either go there
by train, taxi or even walking.
- Sant Pol de Mar (www.santpol.org) has preserved a setting of a typical Mediterranean fishing town, an ideal place to be discovered walking. It also has a magnificent gastronomic offer, including one of the best-reputed restaurants of Catalunya, the "Sant Pau" (St. Paul).
- Canet de Mar (www.canetdemar.org) has an outstanding number of modernist style buildings, set in an itinerary that make it possible to recognise the prominenceof this architectonic style, so popular in Catalunya at the beginning of the last century.
- Arenys de Mar (www.arenysdemar.org) boasts a
fishing port as well
as a marina, excellent gastronomic and sport possibilities, and a magnificent

- Santa Susanna (www.stasusanna.org) is a neighbouring town the beach of which, together with that of Pineda, forms a long uninterrupted stretch of sand of outstanding quality. Its front boulevard, offering a wide choice of entertainment and nightlife activities, is reachable in a five minutes train ride from Pineda or even strolling.
- Malgrat de Mar (www.ajmalgrat.es) has also good entertainment choices, most of them are to be found along the promenade that in summer becomes a true and lively focal point. The urban area is home to some remarkable restaurants too, and weekly street market is on Thursdays.
- Aside these towns, and still accessible by train or combinations of train and bus, we can outline the towns of Blanes, with its fishing port and its botanical garden (street market on Mondays), Lloret de Mar and its very well known night life (street market on Tuesdays), Tossa de Mar and its medieval fortified town, Palafolls, boasting a comprehensive water park (Marineland), Tordera and its lively and bustling Sunday market, Caldes d'Estrac and its offer of gastronomy and thermal tourism facilities, etc.
Moreover, it should also he highlighted the vicinity of the Costa Brava,
accessible
by private car, or the entertainment and cultural possibilities
of the provinces of Barcelona and Girona, (among which is worth mentioning
Figueres and its museum dedicated to Dalí), never more than a
couple of hours away from Pineda de Mar.
In short, a complete array of choices and alternatives all within reach, allowing you to tailor-make your holidays and enjoy them as you wish.
