Other Farmhouses of Pineda de Mar
In the Pineda de Mar municipal area, a fair amount of farmhouses still survive, some of them of great historic and architectonic interest, which emphasise the importance of agriculture in the town's economy throughout its history and even nowadays.
Among
them, there is "Can Teixidor", visible from
the N-II road, just in the boundary with Calella. It's a farmhouse with
two levels and a loft, as well as two joined sections and a barn with
an arched door. The portal, a little elevated in relation to the courtyard,
has wedge-shaped stones, and the windows feature lintel, sill and stone
jambs. According to Bonet y Garí, the building is from the XVII
century.
Not
far from the Merola Tower, there is the "Can Feliu de Merola" farmhouse,
with a three parallel sections structure, extended with a new section
on the right side and another one, perpendicular, on the left side, that
closes the courtyard. The portal is round-headed, with wedge-shaped stones,
and on the first floor there are two gothic large windows from the XVI
century.
In
the outskirts of the town, we find the "Rectoria Vella",
(old Rectory) a fortified large house by means of a quadrilateral tower.
It has three sections, ground and upper floor and a loft, and a two slopes
roof. The portal has wedge-shaped stones, and the windows, rectangular,
feature stone lintels with the engraved dates of 1707 and 1708.
Not
far from there, on the summit of the hill of the same name, we find "Can
Roig", built over the ruins of an ancient roman mansion.
"Can Palau de
la Guitarra", located near the roman aqueduct, still
preserves its original structure, probably very old, taking into consideration
the three section window of the façade.
