Can Cànoves

La Mora, no NR. In the foothill of Montpalau

Located in the foothill of the Montpalau, the farmhouse of "Can Cànoves" adds to its historical interest the fact of having fully preserved its original architectonical structure.cancanoves

From de group of buildings, stands out the house, from the end of the XIV century, joined to which, we find a quadrilateral tower and several annexes: pens for small livestock, stables for large livestock, three independent sections and a barn. Water comes from a nearby well.

Structurally speaking, "Can Cánoves" is a farmhouse featuring a roof with two slopes, and formed by three perpendicular sections along the façade. One of the sides has an added section, where the tower stands, on the front side, and the other has an attached little outbuilding at the back. The main portal features a round-headed arch, with wedge-shaped stones (voussoir), well crafted like the lintels and jambs in the windows. The tower, added at a later stage, is quadrilateral and has three levels with vaults, connected through a spiral staircase. It still featuresan interesting gothic large window.

From the independent buildings, we must draw attention to the barn, built also during the XIV century, with two independent open naves, a roof with two tiled slopes, and two stone arches, on top of which there are rectangular windows with lintel and stone jambs.
